White mold on net pots

by Linda
(Maine)

We have a Hydroponics system with fish, and are seeing a little what appears to be white mold on the rock wool in the net pots of some strawberry plants.

With the fish we really cannot use typical control for this or do we really know if it's mold.

One site indicated it might be salt deposits.

If anyone has had this issue love to hear what they think it is or what a solution might be.

White mold? Did it first appear as small white spots on the tops of the leaves?

It may then progress to a fine, pale gray-white powder, all over. Growth slows, leaves turn yellow and the plant dies. Powdery mildew is caused by cool temps, dim light and high humidity. How to treat this common plant disease?

Decrease humidity
Increase air circulation and ventilation
Increase light intensity

Hope this helps
