White Mold on Hydroponic Clay Pellets in my Aquaponic System

by Chris
(Tampa, FL)

My whole set up is 2 weeks old with 6 goldfish and 3 hydroponic towers that feed off of the fish in a 50 gallon bucket. In 1 day I'm losing all my starter plants (about 20) except for my merrigolds which seem rather hardi and all 3 towers in each bucket the pellets have turned 1/2 white. I'm assuming it is mold from over spraying my seedlings when planting. How do I start it over? Can I bleach all the hydroponic clay pellets or will that kill the fish? How do you get rid of the mold? Mold can be so dangerous. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to repeat the same mistake. Any one else have this problem? It is in a very well ventilated area outside and last night it got very cold down to about 40 here in Tampa, FL.
