Reservoir on Cold Basement Floor
I'm setting up a couple of drip system for my warm weather crops (tomatoes, peppers, kitchen herbs, etc.) in my 50 degree New Hampshire basement. They will be going in an enclosure where I can keep the air temperatures more to their liking. The reservoirs are going to be on the basement floor. I've read articles about how wonderful it is to have the reservoir directly on the cement floor, but most of these articles are talking about much warmer basements. Can I put these in direct contact with the cement floor, or should I have them insulated from the cold floor by a sheet or two of rigid insulation and some plywood?
