Need Feeding Schedule for Tomatoes in Bato Buckets
I've been following the instructions in this website.
Going to grow tomatoes in Bato Buckets using primaryily
a 50-50 mix of Coco and perlite. Plant to use a layer
of hydroton on the bottom and top.
I am going to use the three part Floragrow nutrients. Will
start with lights on 18 hours per day, reduced to 12 hours
when they start flowering.
Question: What is the feeding cycle? 15 minutes per hour
when lights are on? For an hour every other hour? Please
give me some suggestions. I searched the website and did
not find it.
Answer from Stella/Simon:
You are so right, we failed to put this vital piece of information on the page. You really don't need to water/feed very often. Try starting with the schedule below. Once the plants mature and grow fruit, you can add more feedings.
The pond pump goes to a timer; set it for only 15 minute drip cycles (one pin on the timer- 30 minutes is too long).
The drip cycle should last 15 minutes, one increment on a garden timer.
• Winter, Spring & fall: 2x daily, in the morning and evening: 6am and 6pm
• Summer: 3x daily, add an early evening feeding: 6am-1pm-8pm
Obviously, a power strip would come in handy here, unless you have 2-3 wall outlets close to your garden.
Hope this helps!
