Muddy Waters

When using a hydroponic system is it ok to have soil in my net pots? wouldnt that make my nutrient solution all muddy and change the PH? what growth medium should i use?

Answer from Stella/Simon:
Hi there,
if you use soil in the pots, you're not doing hydroponics at all, but traditional soil gardening. Using soil would certainly muddy the nutrient solution and change its makeup, pH and nutritional abilities.

Please return to the website and start on the left clicking on the navbar link pages for basic hydroponics. There you will find information about what hydroponics is and why soil should not be used. You will also learn the different types of media to use that are inert and will not change the nutrients.

Hope this helps, and good luck to you!
