I recently bought a T5 lamp for your mini lettuce raft plan. Does it matter what T5 bulb you use? It came with 3000K T5 bulbs. I saw on a website that 3000k was for bloom and 6500k was for growth. There also some at the store that are in between 3500k, 4100k and so on. Which would you recommend or does it not really matter?
Answer from Stella/Simon:
The website was correct, 3000K for bloom and 6400K for grow.
Keep in mind that the hot HPS (high pressure sodium) lamps are superior to ALL T5 fluorescents for blooming and fruiting crops.
The T5 fluorescents are ideal for leafy crops; lettuces and greens. So the 6400K lamps would be preferable for your lettuce raft. But if you want to save money, why not grow a raft under what you got and see what happens? Hydro is all about experimentation and improvisation.
Hope this helps!
