Humidity?

by Nancy
(Chicago, Il USA)

Is the humidity damaging to the space the garden occupies? For instance would a wood floor be damaged (above) If i put the garden on the first floor? Is mildew or mold ever a problem?

Answer from Stella/Simon:

Hi Nancy,
yes, unfortunately hydroponic setups do generate humidity. Moisture is inherent in the nature of the process. Wood floors might be affected, so I suggest placing some thick plastic sheeting down before installing a unit. Mildew and mold can be a problem, but proper lighting and ventilation helps prevent this.

Hope this helps!
