Help With Kohirabi

by Phil
(Tobaccoville, NC)

I don’t know if anyone can answer this question, but I’ll ask anyway. I’m growing Kohirabi, and I was wondering about light and nutrition. Kohirabi does not flower, so at looking at the nutrient schedule from GH, do I even use the “Flower” stage solution? Right not I am using “Advance Grow” solution. How do I know when to change solutions with this non-flowering vegetable, do I even need to change my bulb to HPS? If so, how do I know, when to change the bulb? I know these are tough questions, but I don’t know where else to find the answers.

Answer from Stella/Simon:

Hi Phil,

We have never grown kohirabi (Kohlrabi?), but I do believe you should treat it as a green leafy veg, like lettuce or spinach. Which means, no flowering stage nutrients. My guess is you could stick with MH lighting too, and won't need HPS. In the final analysis, you will probably just have to experiment and see what works.
Hope this helps!
