Help! Leaves curling down, Plants not growing
by Andrey Garcia
Spinach on my DIY GrowLED
Here is some short story about me. I'm new to Hydroponic Indoor. I start growing hydroponic when i see somebody on youtube growing plants indoor using red and blue leds, its cool for me so i decide to make my own.
I have basic electronic skill, so just in curios i make my own LED GrowLight using red and blue strips. turns out the plants are happy with it but the down side is it is super hot (hotter than incandescent bulb) and high energy consumption.
i harvested 2 times using wick system, growing bok choy and spinach. i interested to make money from this so i google information about hydroponic indoor for 2-3 months and i start using TL T5, and make my first small industrial scale producing bok choy.
here is the problem, that photo taken around 4 weeks after seedlings it is bok choy, i have completely no idea whats going on, the leaves are curling down and not growing anymore.
PH is controlled around 6.5 to 7 ideal for Bok Choy, ppm is controlled to 1200 (or 2.3 EC), water reservoir changed every 2 weeks. i Google about it and all information i get is too much nutrient solution, so i decide to turn it down to 700 ppm. still no changed , no sign of lack of nutrition too.
while waiting for first batch getting better, i plant second batch in the same rack, 2 weeks later the 2nd batch also curling down, while the 1st batch is getting worse, i am completely frustrated.
algae grow in the pipes that got direct light from the T5 but no big problem because i control it, they say (google) algae sometimes help to decrease the nutrient solution when it is too high, just dont let them grow too much, my plant will lack of nutrition, and i say "this is not lack of nutrition, this is sign of too much nutrition, but it is not too much nutrition too"
please help me, i give a lot of information so you guys know whats going on. I'm 20 by the way, living alone, i bet all my money in this system so that i can sell the plants later on but things are getting worse.
i post photos of my plants when i try grow under my DIY grow led, and my plants when i try to grow under my T5.
the DIY grow led is photoshoped the saturation just to make it glow.
