hard water nutrients

i have bought hard water nutrients for my hydroponic garden but i live in a soft water area. Can i still use them or will i kill them.

Answer from Stella/Simon:

Hmmm. Did you buy just a small bottle or a gallon jug. If just a small bottle, bite the loss and order the right stuff. If you ordered a big jug, see if you can exchange it. If not, I would go on and use it. I don't think you will kill your plants, just maybe not optimal growth.

Hope this helps!

Hard Water Nutients
by: Mike

All this depends on the brand but they are likely to be very acidic and have below optimum levels of calcium and magnesium. You should buy nutrients suitable for soft water and, if you have to keep the hard water nutrients, mix them 1:4 with the soft water. This will get you out of trouble.
