Green onions
I would love to grown green onions in a bucket bubbler for year round harvests, but have two questions.
There are green onions that "multiply" and just keep propagating constantly (at least in dirt, they do) as long as the weather is good, even during a mild winter spell. And there are onions that have a seasonal life that you can pull up for your typical harvest when the plant is the size you like. Does it matter for hydroponics?
Second, I know lettuce/greens will grow under fluorescents, but would these onions? Or do I need to put them under HID? For greens and onions, would 18/8 be the right timing?
Thanks so much for your help! I'm a total newbie and really want this to work. This drought in Texas is killing us!

Answer from Stella/Simon:
Hi, you can grow either type of onions in hydroponics, just make sure to use loose, friable planting medium like possibly coco coir + perlite mixture. Fluorescent lighting should work fine, 18/8 sounds good, just experiment til you find what works for you.
Hope this helps!
