Dutch Bucket Algae
by Bruce Warren

I'm growing vegetables in a "Dutch Bucket" type system. Buckets with strainer bags with perlite in them. The feed tubing is aimed at the base of the vegetable(s), tomato, cucumber, squash, zucchini, beans, etc.. over flow is routed back to the reservoir. Of late, there seems to be a greenish algae developing on the perlite, right at the area the feed tube discharges to. Can anyone give me an idea of what is happening? I am using Dyna-Gro GROW as nutrient, maintaining 750 - 850 ppm, with a 5.5 - 7.5 pH.
All growing is in a SOLEXX Oasis Greenhouse, 8' X 12'. Of late because of inside temps rising to high 90's am leaving the door open with exhaust fan running and vent louvers open.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
