Contolling algae in a hydro veggie tower

by Ron
(Salem, or United states)

So i have a 5ft tall tower that uses a pump to flow the water from top to bottom which is a 5 gal. Bucket. Im getting algae growth in the clear line that traverses the wall into my tower. Now besides reducing the light by painting the bucket black and maybe getting a line that isnt transparent, I had heard you could use a vineger solution in the main water reservoir.

My question.

Will this hurt my lettuce and tomatoes?

Thanks, Ron

Lots of Algae
by: Memwl

Never use clear tubing in any hydroponic system, The people come on you tube and other sources using clear tubing I suppose for clarity and explanation purposes, Never use clear containers or tubing, Light will produce algae, I spray paint mine with that rubberized paint or use the black irrigation tubing, I use pool acid watered down to clean my systems with works great and leaves nothing behind to affect your plants..

Good Luck
