Cilantro growth problem

by Fern
(New Zealand)

Im having this tip burn type problem with my green-house grown cilantro. Variety is slow-bolt. My c.f is at 1.6 , ph 6.3-6.5, A light fan is running over the plants to aid in transpiration and help get calcium to the leaf tips, and I'm using a herb nutrient formula customised to my water. Also have shade cloth over the area to keep the temperature down. The problem is starting in the new growth. Any ideas? Cant think what else to do.

Some ideas
by: Stella

Hi Fern (appropriate name for a gardener! :)

Your ph sounds right. What is the max and min temperatures for this garden? How is the humidity running?

I am not sure what you mean by CF at 1.6. Hopefully you mean your EC value is 1.6, which should be adequate for cilantro (1.6-1.8 is recommended).

Leaf tip burn is often due to nutrient solution being too strong [flush your pots with clean water and mix a new batch]. Hot dry air can also burn.

I'm not saying strong solution is the problem, just offering ideas. Good luck!
